Evaluating the System

Over 29 years the California Department of Motor Vehicles [DMV] has conducted annual outcome studies on the effectiveness of the California DUI system in reducing recidivism.

The DMV Report consistently shows that the most effective approach to reducing recidivism is the combination of Drivers License sanctions and DUI Program provision.

Check the Materials Tab at the top of your page and look though the DMV report to identify the DUI statistics in your County.  A special research project was conducted by Dr. Sheldon Zhang who researched numerous aspects of the DUI Programs. His study included completion rates as shown below. You will see more aspects of his study in the next lessons.
