Delivering DUI services in a virtual setting requires more than simply moving in person practices online. It demands a clear understanding of regulatory expectations, ethical responsibilities, documentation standards, and effective engagement strategies that protect both the participant and the program. For many counselors, virtual DUI services bring new challenges around attendance verification, confidentiality, participant accountability, and maintaining meaningful engagement with individuals who are often mandated to attend.
This course is designed to support SUD counselors working in or preparing for virtual DUI settings by bridging compliance requirements with real world counseling practice. Throughout the course, you will explore how state regulations, Title 9 requirements, and DHCS guidance apply to daily service delivery, while also strengthening your skills in intake, documentation, group facilitation, motivational interviewing, and risk management in virtual environments.
Rather than focusing on theory alone, this course emphasizes practical application. You will work through realistic scenarios, reflect on common compliance risks, and examine best practices that help counselors deliver services that are ethical, effective, and audit ready. By the end of the course, you will be better equipped to navigate virtual DUI counseling with confidence, consistency, and professionalism while maintaining the integrity of both the program and the services provided.
